The key word search allows you to search for all available resources which contain a specific word or phrase.

  • Type in the particular word of phrase of interest in the text box at the top of the left hand menu and click the “Search” button or press enter.
  • You will then be presented with a list of resource descriptions which contain your keyword or phrase.
  • Keep your key word or phrase searches simple to identify the maximum number of resource  on your topic of interest.
  • Try different iterations or synonyms of the key word or topic you are searching for. For example, resources referring to “crisis communication” may be more easily found by searching “risk communication”.

Advanced Search:

The Advanced Search option allows you to filter your searches to the highest degree of specificity.

  • Click on “Advanced Search” beneath the Keyword Search text box.
  • Type in a key word and/or select a Topic from the drop down menu
  • Select a Subtopic from the drop down menu located to the right if wish to further limit your query
  • Select further criteria to refine your search, such as Community, State, or Language
  • Click “Search” to be presented with a list of resources which fit your desired search criteria
  • If you do not obtain desired results, conduct a new advanced search, creating fewer filters. Often times, too many search filters can significantly limit results.
