We have developed the Advanced Search function to enable you to search for resources with varying degrees of specificity. Advanced Search filters can be used independently OR in combination with any other filter(s) to allow you to develop a query which will yield desired results.
Keywords:
The Advanced Search will retrieve all resources which contain your keyword(s) as they appear in a resource title or description AND meet the criteria of the filter/filters you have selected from the drop-down menus. The keyword search is not case sensitive but is sensitive to the order in which words appear. If you search for multiple words or a phrase the Advanced Search will only retrieve results which contain your keywords in the same order in which you entered them. To avoid confining your search we recommend that you search by a single keyword or a common phrase and then use the drop-down menu options to further refine your query. To conduct a broad search you can search for a particular keyword without selecting a sub-category from the one or any of the drop-down menus. If a keyword search produces too many results use additional filters to refine your search and limit your results.
Resource Type, Topic, and Community:
All resources have been classified by Resource Type, Topic, and Community. Resources have also been further classified by Resource Subtype, Subtopic, and specific communities to enable you to quickly find the resources you need. Select any Topic and/or Resource Type and/or Community from the drop-down menus to filter your results. To create a more specific query and further limit your results you can also select sub-categories from the drop-down menus. To conduct a broad search which will yield a greater number of results select “Any” Resource Subtype, Subtopic, or community from the sub-category drop-down menus.
State and Language:
By using the drop-menus you can also limit your search to resources which focus on a specific state or have been translated into a particular language.
Please note: the more filters you apply to your search, the more limited your results will be. To obtain maximum relevant search results, we recommend that you start your search with no more than 4 filters. View your results, and if they are still too broad, go back and add one or two additional filters to obtain desired results.
