Description:

This slideshow presentation was originally developed for the National Emergency Management Summit which took place in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 5, 2007. The presentation provides findings from a comprehensive review of literature and websites which assessed current initiatives and information available on emergency preparedness for racially and ethnically diverse communities. A review of 301 websites which provided generic preparedness information found that only 38 (13%) explicitly focused on the preparedness needs of racially and ethnically diverse communities. The presentation cites its findings of current preparedness initiatives for racially and ethnically diverse communities, draws preliminary conclusions and dicusses future directions.
