| Description: | Research has shown that not everyone is equally prepared or protected when a disaster occurs. A sample of 165 Latino and 1,069 Non-Latino Florida single-family homeowners were drawn from the 1999 Florida Statewide Mitigation Survey to determine discrepancies in disaster preparedness among Latinos and Non-Latinos. Results showed problems with the dissemination of disaster information and that Latino homeowners prefer to utilize friends and family as sources of disaster preparation information. |
