This news radio story describes the findings of a report which assessed efforts to integrate racial and ethnically diverse communities into emergency preparedness plans in California. The story describes perennial barriers to preparedness among these communities as well as empirical examples from the San Diego area. Dr. Dennis Andrulis of the Drexel University School of Public Health and Ron Lane of the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services are interviewed.
