This streaming video presentation addresses the concept of cultural competency as related to the choice and implementation of mental health and public health outreach strategies in a disaster response. The presentation discusses various aspects of the psychological impacts of disaster and the building of partnerships within communities to provide the best care to victims of disaster. Intervention strategies to assist disaster survivors, particularly special needs groups, are suggested as well as intervention, training, and assistance for those who respond to disasters.
