Guidance for Establishing Crisis Standards of Care for Use in Disaster Situations

Description:

This report provides federal guidance for state and local public health officials; recommendations are made so that these officials can establish and implement standards of care during disaster situations. Fairness, equitable processes, community and provider engagement, education, and communication, and the rule of law are components of the vision leading to these recommendations. Recommendations include the need for consistency, community and provider engagement, adherence to ethical norms, and the need for legal protections.
