Description:This book discusses how race and ethnicity contribute to behavior during a disaster. It focuses on the actions of Blacks, Whites, and Mexican Americans in various communities during different types of disasters such as floods, propane tank car derailment, and fires and other damage caused by a nitric acid spill during a tank car rupture. The authors discuss the various races’ responses to these disasters such as probability to seek public shelter or trust authorities.
